Jizo Bodhisattva, the name of a Buddhist Bodhisattva, is the translation of the Sanskrit word Kṣitigarbha, which is pronounced as “Kishangditigarbha”. In the Ten Wheel Sutra of Jizo, it is said that he is “tolerant and immovable like the earth, and meditative and profound like a secret treasure [1]”, hence his name. It is also known as “Earth Store King Bodhisattva”.
